Congrats ME!

So apparently, all I need to happen in order to win my own contest is for Duke to win a national title. Thanks again to everyone for playing.

Congrats Matty

Riding 3 players into the final 4, and 2 into Monday night, Matty has claimed the Shootout 2010 barring a 60 point outing from Singler or Smith. I'll hang on to second unless Singler outscores Smith by 16... but if Smith has 14 and Singler has 30 I'll be able to cope with getting edged out.

Also, Biggs sealed the deal in the LDD with the Duke win, but Sib will be taking the 10 points for the Sickness, besting the rest of us since Matty can no longer catch him. If Butler wins, Matty breaks the 3-way tie for 2nd and scoops the 7pts, and Phil could play spoiler with the tiebreak for 3rd. If the most wonderful of wonderful happens and Duke prevails, the alumni will go to the scorecards. (I have up to 135 pts, Gak has 137 and up. If its 136... closest to the winner's actual score?)

Name - Total (NCAA, NIT, LDD, Shootout)
Mike - 28 pts (7, 7, 7, 7)
Gak - 22 pts (10, 0, 7, 5)
Matty - 21 pts (3, 1, 7, 10)
Sib - 21 pts (5, 3, 10, 3)
Phil - 11 pts (0, 10, 1, 0)
Lars - 7 pts (1, 5, 0, 1)

Fantastic!

Much TBD Tonight

Since everyone's bracket is decimated, the Duke v Baylor game decides the order of finish for the NCAA bracket. Sib and Lars put Baylor in the Final 4, while the 2 Duke alums went with the Blue Devils. Here is how the leaderboard will shake out either way. Congrats to Sib and Gak for guaranteed top 3 finishes, and condolences to Phil for being the tournament's whipping boy this year.

Lacedarius Dunn Bracket
  • Sib, 70 pts
  • Gak, 68 pts
  • Lars, 62 pts
  • 14, 61 pts
  • Matty, 56 pts
  • Phil, 45 pts
Brian Zoooooooooubeck Bracket
  • Gak, 76+ pts
  • 14, 69+ pts
  • Sib, 62 pts
  • Matty, 56 pts
  • Lars, 54 pts
  • Phil, 45 pts
Looking at Little Digger's Dilemma, everyone's a lot closer together (save Sib). If Baylor wins, Sib's guaranteed another 10 points towards the Sickness crown because he'll have a 5 point lead with three games left. Even if the Dukies move on, he'll need to go 0/3 and Matty or Gak would have to go 3/3 to catch him. Here's the LDD leaderboard; Name (score if Duke wins, score if Baylor wins)
  • Sib (42, 43)
  • Matty (39, 38)
  • Gak (39, 38)
  • LD (38, 37)
  • Phil (37, 36)
  • Lars (32, 33)
The Shootout could really go any which way, but Matty certainly looks to be in good shape.
  • Matty - 278 pts.  Scheyer still to play, Butler, Hayward advanced
  • Lars - 273 pts
  • Gak - 269 pts.  Singler to play, Jones advanced
  • Sib - 260 pts.  Tweety to play
  • Kyle - 252 pts.  Summers to play
  • Mike - 256 pts.  Smith and Dunn to play, 1 will advance
  • Phil!

Sickness Leaderboard

As of tonight's NIT quarterfinals, there is only one bracket with any possible points remaining, and I'm happy to report that its mine. If URI beats the Heels, I'll overtake Phil for the NIT title, but if the powder blue battle goes the wrong way, the standings remain as they are.

The Sickness Leaderboard

  • Sib, 25 (10, 7, 5, 3)
  • Mike, 22 (7, 5, 3, 7)

  • Lars, 15 (0, 0, 10, 5)
  • Phil, 14 (3, 1, 0, 10)
  • Gak, 11 (1, 3, 7, 0)
